Coronavirus updates: Washoe reports 29 new cases, statewide test rate continues to drop

Washoe reports 29 new cases

The Regional Information Center is reporting 29 new positive cases and 12 recoveries from COVID-19 in Washoe County.

The county’s death toll remains unchanged at 60. Washoe is now home to 619 active cases and 898 recoveries.

Officials are offering free virus testing this week to anyone who makes an appointment at covid19washoe.com. Residents can also register by calling 775-328-2427.

98 new known cases in Nevada; positive test rate continues to drop

The number of Nevadans who have tested positive for COVID-19 increased to 8,593, according to data released Sunday morning on the Nevada Health Alliance dashboard.

State health officials identified 98 new cases and no additional deaths on Saturday. The number of fatal cases stands at 417.

More than 165,000 tests have been administered in Nevada since the beginning of the pandemic. After reaching a peak positivity rate of 12.2 percent in late April, the rate of positive tests has dropped to 6 percent.

Washoe death toll rises to 60

Washoe County reported another COVID-19-related death Saturday, bringing the county’s death toll to 60, according to the Regional Information Center.

The most recent death was a woman in her 90s with underlying health conditions.

There were also 30 more recoveries reported and 17 new cases reported Saturday. There are now 602 active cases in Washoe County and 886 total recoveries.

More than 26,000 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Washoe County.
