The Florida Department of Health reported 67 new cases of COVID-19 in Collier County Thursday, pushing the county’s total to 1,401. Three additional deaths of Collier residents were also counted by the state on Thursday. A total of 49 Collier residents have died from COVID-19 complications. 

That’s the most additional Collier County cases from one state report to the next since May 12, when the total number of cases increased by 77.  According to the department, 41 of the 67 cases added Thursday were residents of Immokalee.

The three additional deaths verified by the state Thursday were:

  • An 89 year-old woman (Case counted on April 29)
  • A 76-year-old man who has contact with a confirmed case (Counted April 30)
  • A 92-year-old woman who had contact with a confirmed case (Counted May 12)

The department confirmed Collier’s first three cases of the novel coronavirus Wednesday, March 11. Since then, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Collier has increased to 1,401.

A total of 181 people in Collier County have been hospitalized for COVID-19, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital, as some have been released. Ten hospitalizations are non-residents. 

The Florida Department of Health is not reporting how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
